The results of the only airline listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), indicated that gross revenue grew by 48 per cent from N8.7 billion to N13.007 billion in 2017. Operating cost shot up from N7.748 billion to N9.982 billion, propelled by rise in aviation fuel cost and cost of lease of aircraft for local operations. For instance the airline spent N1.257 billion on lease of aircraft in H1, compared with nothing in the corresponding period of 2016. Similarly, N4.506 billion was spent on aviation fuel, showing an increase of 60.2 per cent above the N2.811 billion recorded in 2016. Bird strike forces Medview Airline to abort flight at Ilorin airport By News Agency of Nigeria  - August 9, 2017 A Saudi-bound flight operated by Medview Airline was on Saturday night aborted at the Ilorin Airport due to bird strike. The airline confirmed the development in a statement by its media consultant, Mr Obuke Oyibhota, on Sunday in Lagos. Oyibhota said the B767 aircraft carrying 222 pilgrims was taxiing for takeoff when it was struck by a brood of birds, forcing the pilot to abort the flight. He, however, assured all pilgrims that the schedule for their transportation to the holy land would not be affected by the incident.“The 222 pilgrims were de-boarded without incident, and arrangements are being made to provide another aircraft to airlift them today (Sunday),” he said. He said the airline last night flew a team of engineers and others to Ilorin to get the aircraft back to service.
